New mothers preferred to receive vaccine information from pediatrician vs. obstetrician

SAN DIEGO — Sean O’Leary, MD, MPH, from the department of pediatrics at the University of Colorado, highlighted study results which found that most new mothers favored receiving childhood vaccine information from their child’s doctor over their obstetrician. To assess the timing of thinking and seeking information about childhood vaccines and preferred modes of vaccine education among a sample of pregnant and recently-delivered women, the researchers surveyed women from Colorado obstetrics practices from Feb-Apr 2014, scheduled so that about half had delivered and half were still pregnant.
