Health care assistant (HCA) Letso Rapoo won the health practitioner category in the Nursing Standard Nurse Awards. He set up a ward run by HCAs for injured servicemen about to be discharged from Headley Court Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre in Surrey. Patients are given greater independence to build their confidence for when they go home.
